Dev Server?
PermalinkI have my site up and runninghttp://www.touch-akl.com and thats fine.
What I was hoping to do was be able to let clients check out their web own development.
What I have done is put a new folder called 'broadway' (client) in my root (httpdocs) along with all my sites concrete folders.
Inside this folder (broadway) there is another installation of concrete with a clients site ready to go.
Its still in development. What Im hoping is thathttp://www.touch-akl.com/broadway will take me to the site.
But its not.
Is it possible to do this kind of thing for development purposes.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

The access I have (been assigned by the hosts)is httpdocs/
Thats where Ive been told to put my files and things. So I installed concrete there, and its great for my site.
Will I need to pay for a whole separate dev server?
I don’t have pretty urls on actually. I wasnt sure I needed them and Ive read a few buggy posts about them. Might try one day.

regarding your server setup -im the wrong guy to ask, there's a lot of ways to cut up a monkey.
uhh you could move your concrete5 install down a directory to /mysite or something and redirect general traffic there through a few different methods.. but im not a server guy really.. check out more about what .htaccess can do.
I think maybe if I have the dev server in a new folder on the same level as httdocs ie not inside it. It may work.
Thanks for your help.
BTW I sent an email to set up Concrete5 users group in Auckland NZ and I would also like to become a member. Is that possible? I couldnt see a 'become a member' button anywhere but I did send in the users group thing. Will that do it?
