E-mail Link Issues
PermalinkI have been having issues with our "mailto:" links throughout my website and can't figure out why. I have killed links and re-added them, had the links open in new windows, made sure pop-up blockers are off....I am out of ideas.
Our site with many examples ishttp://www.northlakesacademy.org/contact-us/staff-directory/,... but all pages seem to have this issue.
If anyone can help, that would be fantastic.
What am I missing folks?
It was reported by a colleague using Safari, so I know it isn't just my machine.
Do you (or anyone else?) happen to know what kind of settings that might cause this issue in those browsers?
Like enlil, the mailto links work as expected and appear to be formatted correctly. I tested this using Maxthon (Webkit) and Chrome on Windows 7.
When did you start having issues opening links?
Are you able to open links on other websites?
An example to try:
http://php.net/contact.php
- security@php.net
- "For security related issues (in PHP or our websites) please contact security@php.net."
Links had worked probably within the last couple of months, I suppose.
Is it possible your email client is just popping up behind your browser window? Because I do notice the slight flicker you describe when a mailto tries to open outlook on my desktop...
I suppose if other users are having success using the links, then I am less worried, but it is still odd and worth sorting out if I can!

Somehow my default e-mail client setting was defaulted. So it wasn't the coding issue, but that the browser didn't know where to open the mailto command.

You've all been very helpful in isolating the problem.
I do appreciate it!
EDIT: I only tried with firefox...
