New to C5 - Image upload questions

I'm a complete newb to creating websites, with no knowledge of coding, but I've managed to get a very basic site put together this week to highlight my writing (I'm a freelance writer/editor). The fact that I was able to do that means there's something to be said for the utility of concrete5.

My issue, though, is how to change the images that are already there. I just want static images, nothing fancy. Down the road, maybe that'll change.

I've tried to upload a photo I took myself, but it couldn't upload - and I'm guessing it's because the image is too big (the one I attempted was 2.3 MB). Is there a max on single image uploads?

The other question is, depending on if I manage to upload my own images or rely on those I'm able to find on the Web, how do I change those images to the 800x192 dimension? Do I have to alter them before I upload them? I have iPhoto on my Mac, but I've rarely used it and don't even know if I can alter an image in it (and save that version of the image).

Also, I've been working in Safari (3.2.1), but would I be better served working in Firefox (3.0.3)?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, everyone.

Marc
